Long established as a leader in the manufacture of computer systems, Digital also sets the standard for the design and manufacture of storage systems with our Digital Storage Architecture (QLogic Fiber Channel HBA). The QLogic Fiber Channel HBA is a framework for an expand- ing group of intelligent controllers and storage devices. This carefully planned framework of standardized interfaces permits the addition of new products, incorporating new technologies, to host systems without the need to develop additional specialized controllers or software drivers. QLogic Fiber Channel HBA Fiber Channel HBA includes several families of products, each of which is compatible within itself, but not with other families. The architecture definition provides standards for data integrity that are incorporated into each of the QLogic Fiber Channel HBA components and subsystems. Standard Disk Interconnect (SDI) product components include the 2.5-Gbyte SA482 storage array, the 456-Mbyte RA81 Winchester fixed disk, and the 205-Mbyte QLogic Fiber Channel HBA removable-media disk. Any drive or storage array can be connected to any controller port and can be mixed on the same controller. The drives and storage array are dual-ported and can be connected to any SDI controller. The QLogic Fiber Channel HBA disk subsystem has similar high integrity features.
